“Powerful”, “Compelling”, “A story well worth writing” – this is what people are saying about this honest, and sometimes brutal, true story of one man’s struggle growing up in the shadow of childhood sexual abuse. From his difficulties growing up, to his drug addiction, failed relationships, and struggles with parenthood, the author takes us through the ups and downs of a life spent in the shadows, trying to make sense of the events that formed the basis of his being. Sometimes tragic, sometimes hopeful, but never sugar coated, My Father’s Prostitute – Story of a Stolen Childhood takes the reader on an emotional ride which reminds us that the human spirit is more powerful than the demons that haunt us.

Well, the eReaderNewsToday promo was wildly successful - far more successful that I could have imagined. Never did hit the #1 spot, but as of right now we are #3 in the Child Abuse category, #4 in Dysfunctional Relationships, and #13 for memoirs (#549 overall for all Kindles sold on Amazon). With any luck, that big push will help get the word out. Still receiving emails from people that have been inspired to come forward and tell their stories. That is worth more than any book sales, any day!

40% lacking strong parental attachment

A recent study, found Here, claims that up to 40% of children lack strong parental attachment, something that is crucial to success later in life. 40% seems awfully high to me, but regardless of the actual number, I think that whatever it is, it's far too many children left without a secure attachment.

Wow those author bios are hard to write. Never have been one to sell myself (or anything for that matter) but finally got one put together for my interview to be posted next week at http://StrandsSimplyTips.blogspot.com.

Awesome review just left: "A courageous and frank narrative of the daily struggle that the abused face. Everyone should read this. Chances are you know someone that that's been through a similar experience, whether you are aware of it or not. The author's message of determination and hope manages to be uplifting even through the darkness. We need more people that are willing to drag tough subjects into the light to be exposed. Steven Whitacre manages to do so in a way that is so compelling that I read the book in one sitting. " That's more than a few people that have sat down and read it straight through. Granted, it's only 132 pages of easy reading, but it's the little things that makes me happy :) Also heard today from 2 more men that have come forward to tell me they had similar experiences in childhood, and thanked me for writing the book. To me, that is worth everything. That is the reason I told my story.
